Twenty-three years ago, I traveled to an outback town to help a family friend.

This place was extraordinary—where people greet you with waves and hellos as you drive by, where endless blue skies stretch above you, and where stars shine with remarkable brilliance against scenery that takes your breath away.

I fell so deeply in love with it that I bought a property on the spot. In that moment, I knew I had to share this special place with others.

The town is Barcaldine. I came for the history, but stayed for the beauty.

Hi from Kerry-ann & Jeff,

Both born and bred in Brisbane, we first visited outback Queensland 23 years ago and discovered that so much of our history and identity is drawn from these remarkable places. The wide open spaces, sense of freedom, and pioneering spirit forged by this challenging landscape captivated us completely.

We loved it so much that we made Barcaldine our home and now run Country Rumours Barcaldine, our local shop right here in town. We hope you'll allow us to share this incredible experience with you. We're not a big commercial operation treating you like a number—you and outback Queensland are real to us, and we can't wait to welcome you and show you what makes this place so special.
